Flora Meshells were inspired by the lush abundance of the natural world and they celebrate the mystery and wonder of that world.
The colorations, patterning and imagery on the stainless steel mesh were done by heat from a propane and butane torch. Clear silicone was mixed with powdered pigment and pressed through the mesh to create the colorful petal-like enhancements. The mesh was hand modeled to accentuate the torch work and then the seam wires were twisted together using a mini-linesman’s pliers to form the biomorphic basketry shape. The seams were then cross-stitched sewn with coated copper wire.
