“Allow the liminal spaces of your body to dissolve as you stand in the spring rain, renewing an ancient unspoken language that only your skin understands. Silent ancestors can now communicate with you using the curious wind as an intermediary and you are surrounded suddenly by leaves and pale turquoise flower petals the color of the water in your parents’ 1960’s Bermuda honeymoon photos. “You are the result of the love of thousands” (Linda Hogan), the leaves and petals whisper to you, and your ancestors begin healing, creating a domino effect through the centuries that you feel later that night. You no longer recognize your hands.
Earrings are fabricated and set with gemstones, ancient coins and enamel gems. Multiple layers of kiln-fired enamel are added to small copper panels along with 24k gold foil. Hand made iron oxide transfers of vintage Buddhist illustrations are fired into the enamel and hand colored with overglaze. A layer of under-fired enamel adds texture and a graininess that sets the image outside of time.” – Kim Nogueira
