DECODER KIT FOR A NEW PARADIGM
As the planet underwent a collective dark night of the soul last year, I found grateful solace in this humble suggestion by a Native American wisdom keeper: kneel on the earth, kiss the ground and tell Mother Earth that you love her. For the past year I have been starting my day with this gentle practice, also telling her that it is an honor to be here on this wondrous orb, and I am thankful for the body that she provided me with, so that my soul can experience the miracles and marvels of breathing on this beautiful planet together with so many other astonishing life forms singing their unique song.
This appreciative and tender ritual was the beginning of a cascade of unexpected emotional and spiritual transformations last year, all quite stressful for me at first. With much difficulty, I let go of many behaviors/fears that were no longer serving me-the need for my ego to control the narrative (to be “right”), fear of authority, fear of conflict, worry about the future. These deeply ingrained unconscious programs were difficult to recognize and let go of, but liberating myself from such unproductive and detrimental tendencies initiated curiosity, open dialogue, creativity, and possibility, mirroring David T Suzuki’s approach: “My solemn proclamation is that a new universe is created every moment”.
The changes we want to see in the outer world will come as each individual checks in with themselves and addresses the terrain of their own inner geography and adjusts accordingly. Physicist Louis de Broglie understatingly admits: “The great wonder in the progress of science is that it has revealed to us a certain agreement between our thoughts and things.” This is not easy work. We can’t change others, we can only change ourselves; but the resulting ripple effect allows and exponentially encourages others to evolve as well, also transforming our physical landscapes and ecosystems, which research has shown respond immediately to genuinely therapeutic and beneficial efforts.
Fathomed from the chaotic darkness and light of last year’s shadow journeys, I contribute a box of transmutational, transformational and cartographic curiosities, an assortment of interactive polestars with external and internal messages and clues, the warp and weft of a rubicon, a decoder kit for the new paradigm currently being birthed.
“For there are moments when something new has entered into us, something unknown; our feelings grow mute in shy perplexity, everything in us withdraws, a stillness comes, and the new, which no one knows, stands in the midst of it and is silent.” -Rumi
