Statement:
It may take several years of ruminating over these intense months of Covid, in order to see artwork evolve and reflect on this phase. Covid amplified the way humans are affecting nature, and the fact that nature is in charge. We are connected to the beauty and the horror of nature. Covid has put a magnifying glass onto this reality. I was inspired to create a necklace of poisonous plants. It highlights the beauty and the danger that embrace us every moment.
Description of Necklace:
This necklace depicts two poisonous plants. On the left is a sprig of pokeberries with leaves, on the right is a purple throated Datura flower, with bud, leaves and seedpod. I have one large Bee brooch that hold the necklace down, or can be worn separated. I plan on making a moth brooch to go with the necklace.
