STATEMENT
As a goldsmith and enamelist, I handform flowers, birds and other animals from high karat gold and fine silver. I often use colored stones and enamel in the designs. Many of my enamels are from an old collection of French and Swiss enamels dating from the late 19th century. I hand-grind them from solid boules and apply them to hand-chased and engraved metal surfaces in a combined basse taille/en ronde bosse technique. The purity of the 24 karat gold and fine silver beneath the leaded transparent enamels reflects a richness of color and pattern unique to this technique.
