What appears to be an ordinary stone opens to reveal a magically colorful and patterned interior where personal treasures can be kept. Yoko Zeltserman-Miyaji has applied layers of hand mixed and pigmented urushi to both the exterior and interior of this small, hand carved wooden container before polishing them to a smooth finish and sealing with clear urushi. The exterior is in shades of sea blue, green and sand, while the interior shows swirling florets in dusky purple, mauve, salmon and wine.
