What appears to be an ordinary stone opens to reveal a magically colorful and patterned interior where personal treasures can be kept. Yoko Zeltserman-Miyaji has coated the exterior of this small, hand-carved, wooden container, with layers of hand mixed and pigmented, leather-like, blue and glossy black urushi. Inside, the artist has applied urushi in bold red and green, before polishing it to a smooth finish, sealing with clear urushi, and adding small, textured blue dots.
